My name is Ewa Maria Murphy, I live in the beautiful Kingdom of Fife. I have worked in a busy architectural office as a technical assistant when I decided to move my career towards the furniture production. I have enrolled to a furniture making course at the Fife College and along with learning about furniture making I further developed my CAD skills into production of 3D CAD models. Models can be used to ease furniture manufacturing process by extraction of working drawings.
I have worked with AutoCAD for about 8 years but now switched to Rhinoceros.
I currently work as Production administrator for UK's market leader for bespoke timber handrails and bespoke staircases - Haldane UK. Based in CNC office I am enhancing my experience in designing for complex CNC production.
I have learnt traditional joinery as well as the beauty of using Festool dominos; I can also design furniture with knock down fixings and flat packs. During my time at the college I worked with hardwoods so have understanding of requirements for grain alignment etc.
My older brother is rocking 3D technology in the gaming industry but I always wanted to create models that can be turned into tangible projects - therefore I've turned to furniture making, I also have experience with laser cutting, 3D printing and CNC router.
I am a keen information collector and have got some good books to look into when doing my research; I am always happy to advise if I have a relevant knowledge.
On the top of that I am multidisciplinary artist, I like painting, gilding, stencilling, vinyl cutting and also tried digital embroidery - I think it is great when a machine does the hardest job for me :D
Beside are few examples of my hands-on work.
